Health-Care Seeking Behavior and Treatment of Menstrual Migraine among Danish Women—A Social Media Study

An estimated 4–8% of all women, and 16–25% women with migraine, have menstrual migraine (MM), which causes considerable disability, but is underdiagnosed undertreated. We investigated the burden disease, health-care seeking behavior, treatment practices among MM, using social media. In 12 days, 6246 answered an online survey, allowing for diagnosis MM by International Classification Headache Disorders third edition (ICHD-3). total, 47% had 21% non-menstrual (nMM), 15% probable (pMM). Among 61% missed out on school/work 69% family, leisure, or activities in last 3 months. Fifty-four percent consulted a practitioner about their whom thirty-seven received information medical MM. A total 85% used medicine connection either over-the-counter medication only (57%), prescription (24%), both. Social media offers efficient less expensive recruitment platform population-based studies useful tool to raise public awareness Moreover, this study confirms significant impact women’s everyday lives challenges it poses regular activities.
